Reel-Illlusionary Zone is an art house film shot on super 8mm "reel" film. Locations include Bulgaria, Sequoia National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Death Valley National Monument, Pawnee Buttes National Grassland, South Park (ghost town), Colorado, New England, and more. Synopsis – All was well for a certain toy maker in Toyland until one day the toys revolt and head for the real world. Without any experiences to guide them safely, the toys must first traverse the bizarre and surreal Reel-Illusionary Zone.
The film only cost about 12k to make, thanks to the volunteer efforts of so many folks. Reel-Illusionary Zone is largely based on German Expressionism, although there are a few modern components that deviate from that genre.
Reel-Illusionary Zone premieres on Thursday, August 14th at 8 pm at Orange Cat Studios, 2625 Larimer St., Denver. Suggested donation, $5 at the door. Hope 2 see U there! Peace, John. 8-1-08.
