About John Hartman

Hi!!! I’m a substitute teacher by trade, and I hold a B.A. in liberal arts.

First off, there’s a lot about my current ventures/life at www.myspace.com/groovyfilms. Be sure to check it!

I have researched videographic techniques, of course but, in all honesty, have no formal training in video arts. I have minimal theatrical training. However, I do, have more than three years of field experience with filming and editing. Moreover, I do have a burning passion to create in almost any visual sense.

I worked as an actor in L.A. for one-and-one-half years. Mostly, I only did background “extra” work. I did, however, secure the leading role in one feature film: a B film, White Trash. Done in 1991, it’s claim to fame was being the first film ever shot entirely in video. (Unfortunately, White Trash was never released beyond a few theatre presentations). I also chanced to work closely with several talented/famous actors and directors. These experiences have heightened my abilities in filmmaking, today. Hence, I do have some hands-on training in the film industry, which often goes beyond formal training.

So, if you appreciate my style of visual expression, then...feel free to employ my services for any short/feature film that you want directed, filmed, edited, performed in, or all of the above. You can see some of my film work here. See more photos at Colorado Actors & Screenwriters Assembly (CASA). For information about weddings and events, click here.

The same applies for ink, pencil, or water color art. Check out some of my
Fantasy Artwork. If you’d like to purchase one, please place an order and allow two weeks for the assignment, plus one week to deliver the finished product.

I also love to travel and always have my camera ready to shoot whatever I encounter along the way. You can read about some of my travels in Groovy Travel Logs.

groovyfilms.biz Friends

Aaron Mattley

Aaron Mattley, aka “Ralph” from Karma Rider, has contributed much to groovyfilms respecting acting, cinematography, music, and post production.

Aaron has participated in no less than four groovy films, notably Karma Rider, Bark of the Tree, Video Kingdom, and even my brother’s wedding! Hence, for groovyfilms.biz, the Ralph personage is second only to myself.

More info on Ralph’s upcoming website, films, and the grooviest (certainly largest) skate boards I’ve ever seen, will be posted on the Links page by late October, as the word has it. The Ralph-Aaron personage is a beloved groovyfilms friend indeed! Peace on his soul. John. 8-31-05.

Zee

“Zee”, aka C.G. Zarbock of Unfolding Story Pictures, is a groovy friend! For some wild reason, Zee digs what I do in film/art, and I’m grateful. She has collaborated with producing and directing Grave Stoned and the Legends of Tangra. Moreover, Zee created and/or helped me realize my vision for the new groovyfilms.biz website. Were it not for her kindness in this regard, I’d be way behind right now.

YES! Zee is a most professional and supportive groovyfilms friend, indeed. Her expertise in the field has certainly ushered my filmmaking approach to new heights!

Grand Funkin thankin to the Zee!

Walter & Kyle Hartman

groovyfilms friend and brother (he really is my brother), Walter Hartman, has now contributed to three groovy films: Karma Rider, Video Kingdom, and Secession Path. Walter’s contributions go far and wide in terms of the sacrifices he makes, and the crap he puts up with from me. He wouldn’t do it were he not my brother. I lament to ask him, but “the Walt” is such an outstanding actor that I often cannot help myself.

There may come a time whence “the sibling” shall no longer come to my aid in these ever so groovy films, but I’ll always remember his devotion from what he’s done. Love ya bro!

My nephew, Kyle, has also participated in four groovy flicks (the standard I use for groovyfriends “initiation proclamation” is three films). Hence, Kyle should receive recognition. His devotion finds him in: Karma Rider, Bark of The Tree, Secession Path, Video Kingdom, and (although it’ll likely never be released) The Promise.

Like his Dad, the Kyle is not too keen on the groovyfilms train, but tolerates and aids his uncle, and I thank him for that! Love ya kid!

XZanthia

She's been in four groovy films and is likely to be in more. XZanthia participated in: Projection, Daymare, Chellow Fellow, and Beanstalk. A performance artist and actor, XZanthia's energy in groovyfilms is outstanding. She seems born to it, and is more willing to go the distance than any actor I have yet worked with. I could use about a dozen more performers like her!
